ABOUT ME
I am Ben Carpenter. I began in Kansas where I spent the first 21 years of my life. I went to high school in Kansas and then went on to college at Baker University which is also located in Kansas. I graduated on December 17th with a double major in Mathematics and Secondary Education. With these degrees in hand, I felt ready to begin my career. Only problem was, I had recently decided that I didn't want to teach in Kansas for 30 years and then retire in the same place I had spent my entire life. I felt there was more to see in the world. Two weeks after graduation I hopped on a plane for Alaska, where I had recently accepted a position as a high school teacher in a small village just inside the Arctic Circle.
