Slipping Around Gumi

Recently, I went hiking on a mountain outside of Gumi, which is a smaller town outside of Daegu. To get there, we booked a taxi to the train station, took a train to Gumi, and then walked through town to get to the mountain. There was a nice walkway with a very pretty lake at the bottom and from there you could see the summit which was a staggering distance away (or so it seemed). The trail began very nice. It was easy to navigate and very clear. After a while we came upon a frozen waterfall which was pretty neat. We asked a local man to take our picture and to my surprise he took it very seriously. He was down on one knee and making sure the angle was perfect. Meanwhile, his buddy (I presume) was snapping pictures on his own personal phone as well. At this point, the path becomes much tougher due to a significant amount of ice for the rest of the trip up. There were several points that I just started sliding back down the mountain. Eventually, we did reach the top and there was a marvelous view overlooking Gumi and farther. The way back down was even more treacherous than the climb up. Thankfully, I wasn't the only person in our trio to fall coming back down. In fact, each of us fell at least once. After the climb, we stopped by a local Starbucks to let our legs rest and relax for a bit. I think in all the hike was a bit over 12 miles. Overall, it was an excellent hike and the views from the top were well worth the bumps and bruises that arose later.
There are more pictures, including a frozen waterfall, in the gallery section of this website.
