The second flight was pretty boring. It was from Seattle to Anchorage and while the natural beauty would have been breathtaking, the sun was completely down and the forecast was rather cloudy. I saw this flight as an excellent opportunity to get some beauty sleep since the passenger to my left was asleep before the plane took off and the passenger to the right was fully immersed in a movie. Before too long, we had landed in Anchorage. The local time was roughly 1:00 am (4:00 am by the time I was used to) and I was feeling rather groggy as I was attempting to navigate the small airport.

It was at this moment, that I first met Will. During my first two flights, I had worn my bright red Kansas City Chiefs cap (*tomahawk chops*). Anyway, Will comes up to me with a heaping load of energy and enthusiasm that took me by surprise. If you read my post about midwest charm, this was it times about 10. He recognized me due to the Chiefs hat. After some socializing, it would seem we are headed to work for the same district. Much like myself, Will was a bursting at the seams with excitement about this new job and all of the adventure that comes along with it. Our next stop, is the local hub: Kotzebue.

Kotzebue is the hub for the northwest arctic region of Alaska. Any shipped goods will go through Kotzebue before it reaches any villages.

The best picture I could get of the countryside. Unfortunately, this picture does not do the Alaskan landscape justice.
